Any thoughts on these? It’s done 50k miles with full history.
Any common problems at this age?
(And thoughts on value?)

There is often a discussion point for rod bearings to be checked/inspected at around 50/60k on the S55 so something to consider

A friend of mine deals in BMWs and has one up for sale. What colour is the one you are looking at?

Yes, mate's is a white one, but fair way away from you so don't expect it to be that on. It's mineral rather than Alpine by the way.

Hi there, I have one of these 2016 conv. Mine is Sapphire Black with Sakhir leather. Had it since 2021, just gone onto 40k miles, no problems whatsoever since I purchased it on 19k miles.

I've been very impressed with mine. It is now coming up to a bigger service c.£900, so I'd imagine the one you are looking at should have had this service. I'd check just to make sure you don't cop for a big bill just after purchase.

Most seem to have the convertible comfort pack, I'd make sure anything you buy does. This gives you the heated steering wheel, neck warmers and factory wind deflector. Means you can drive it roof down in pretty much any temperate if you want to.

I'm finding it hard to know what to consider next as they're such good all rounders.

I test drove a new one in white back in 2016 and I really enjoyed it. I think the spark plugs need changing every 4 years(I paid around £960 for that big service on my Coupe). So they may need doing next year on the one you're looking at, that is obviously only if you're sticking to main dealer servicing though.

I did go and look and there was nothing wrong with the car, to be honest I felt it was a younger mans car.
Now they had a lovely M6 that I’m very tempted with. (£700 a year road tax though)

Yeah and the tax is a bit irritating as you say. My 370Z Roadster is £695 a year as well.

I’m paying road tax for 6 vehicles as it is, 5 of them only I drive.

Bloody hell! I bet that lot take some keeping up with in terms of remembering when the tax/mot/servicing/insurance etc is!

My 69 plate coupe came up for the plugs in March 3.5 years which cost me £1250 (main dealer prices) the kicker is it only had 12k on the clock! The point is the M4 was a £62k+ car when new so the running and servicing costs reflect that. It's why E46 M3 are increasing in value now, the nails that were bought cheap and poorly maintained have gone to the M bed in the sky now leaving the cherished cars to increase in value.

I wish mine was still on the 13k miles from when I bought it to be honest, and I've added almost another 20k miles to that now. I was originally quoted just over £1k at my local main dealer, but in the end it was a touch cheaper though. £1250 is a lot for sure!

I was moaning that mine had the plugs done with the mileage only in the 20s...so god knows how you felt with only 12k miles on yours!

I was a bit surprised as I was expecting the plugs at the next service, but hey ho.... My local main dealer isn't exactly cheap, but they are good and are an official M specialist so I am happy to pay a bit more. After my experience with a really crap Audi main dealer I decided that when you find a good one, stick with it...

I bought the car at 2 yrs old with 3500 on the clock, I'm at 14.5k now, guess the previous owners used it on fair days and holidays only.
