I have my car for sale and some piece of 💩 has tried the old " I'll send a courier" scam.
I would like to warn fellow decent human beings on here about these low life knuckle-draghging pieces of 💩. A heads-up on their false names and email addresses.

Is it worth having a forum dedicated to this ?

The scumbag trying to scam me via this website is Dana Nelson amidanna786@gmail.com

I would support a scam forum.

It would be a good way of warning everyone about the dangers.

A place to hear the almost unbelievable tales of woe and how greedy or gullible some people are.

It might create a good exchange for scam bating.

I might learn a few good scams that I could use if I fall on hard times.

It would only be of use if you could search it easily & you can't do that on this site.

Problem is actually identifying a scam: numerous threads here and elsewhere about 'suspicious' enquiries who then actually turn up and buy.

Some are too obvious -ebay Friday evening someone lists dozens of classics all 1980's prices, all different backgrounds -normally deleted after the weekend. Seems AT and Ebay don't really care and just shrug it off with seemingly little attempt to clamp down on this. These are just a holding deposit scam, there is no vehicle to view.

Although these ads are through uk media, most of the players are working abroad and out of legal jurisdiction.

Scammers likely have several identities, throwaway emails and burner phones and won't reveal themselves.

Last one I had I jerked them off, they sent me a Fedex check for 10k air mail in a name of my choice.

My solution would be put more onus on those talking the adverts - image just £1 from every ad was budgeted for basic human checking of every listing 24/7.

I quite enjoy baiting and dragging out long conversations with scammers . .
