I’ve had a search and can’t find anything current so -

What’s the PH daily driver tyre of choice. Not after the PS4S type tyre. I want to know what you’re putting on the commuter car, the family bus.

I’ve historically used Goodyear Eagle F1s in its various iterations since the Assy3. Great tyre.
Also tried Vred Ultra Satin, was ok but lacked feel and felt vague.
I’ve recent shod my wife’s car with Hankook Ventus Prime 4 - they seem good and are very refined and quiet.

I need 4 new tyres for my car now, SMax 2.0tdci so no Caterham. But ultimately it carries my brood so want decent tyres to keep us/them safe. Leaning towards the Goodyear EfficientGrip performance 2. Gets good write ups, but as does the Primacy 4+, albeit at a slight premium over the GY.

So what’s the current tyre of choice for reliable daily duties in case I’ve missed anything.

I'm not much help because I have Michelin PS4S on the GLE400d, Michelin PSS on the M4, and Michelin PS4 on the 370Z!(that isn't a daily though). People on here do speak very highly of the Goodyears though, so I reckon they are a good direction to go in.

Sorry, but I do daily PS4S.

Had good vibes with Hankook Ventus V12 though, on a FWD. would try again but they don’t cover the sizes I need.

Following a recommendation from another serial Z4 owner I fitted a set of Kumho Ecstas to my Z4M and I've been really pleased with their all round performance, especially for what they cost! Far better than the Michelin Pilot SS it came with that were hopeless when it was cold and damp.

I've also had Pirelli P Zero and P7 on 3 Series and they have been good too.

I'll just add that I had Michelin Primacy 3 on the Cooper S when that was my daily and they were garbage. So I'd personally be a bit wary of any Primacy tyre. I did eventually swap the Primacy for PS4 though, and they were night and day in comparison.

Where I live, any decent quality wet weather biased all season tyre. No complaints with the current Vredestein Quatrac Pro the car has.

I previously had Pirelli P Zero on the GLE before I swapped them for the PS4S. I did rate the P Zero and they wore well and the felt nice to use too. I only swapped to the Michelins because they stopped doing the P Zero for some reason in the size that I needed.

I had those on the previous GLC(and Quatrac 5 before them), and they were easily the best tyre in terms of wear that I've ever had by some margin. I will always recommend them for sure.

Goodyear Assy 5s on the toy/weekend MX-5 are brilliant (and everlasting -12,000 fast miles no measurable wear!)
Michelin Cross Climate2 on the Toyota daily are equally brilliant (and even more everlasting - 25,000 miles, about 2mm wear!)

Now this is the wild card. Strangely drawn an All Season and the Vreds do get a fairly solid write up scratchchin

Bridgestone toranza. Grippy all weather tyre. Had Goodyear eagle F1 on my accord r and was surprised how good their wet weather grip was, so can also recommend those, but my civic coop had Bridgestone from the factory so I've stuck with them.

You won't be disappointed if you do go in that direction I reckon. thumbup

If I could get them in the sizes I need now, I wouldn't think twice about them for sure.

I'm another one who'd put PS4/5 on pretty much anything.

Cross climate 2 for our cars, used them on a few different types of cars/Van's now and cant fault them.
90% of the dry and wet grip of a normal premium summer tyre but also work well in cold, greasy and icy roads.

The way I see it is it seems strange to have summer tyres as default in the uk when summer is only 25% of the year.

I have Goodyear EfficientGrip on my 335d. I did not like the Pirelli Pzeros before. Quiet and comfortable for a runflat (if the roads are good, which they are around here.
My wife runs a Fabia which we put Vredestein Quatrac 5 all seasons on, very happy with those as well.

I've always been ContiSport / MPS4 / GYEF1 but my wife's Q3 Sportback 45 came with the Ventus and they've been great and look nice, as tyres go. No MPS4 but then they're unreasonably sexy for a tyre.

Yep. I was pleasantly surprised when the Mrs' company car Qashqui came back from the tyre shop with PS4 all round a couple of years ago. Far better than the Continental something or other that it came with from new. They lasted forever but felt really dodgy in damp/greasy road conditions. Even she could tell they were cack.
