F1 v Football & other sports: Salary.
Discussion
With a footballer approaching the first BILLION dollar player... it got me thinking.
F1 Weekend:
22 @ about 6hrs seat time
= 192hrs
( Plus Testing).
Footie: @ 90mins
192hrs, equates to 130 games a year (approx).
Including Leauge, cup, & International matches etc.

130 games? They both train, a lot and will have much of their time spent at the behest of sponsors. F1: 22 races... about 6hrs seat time

Career length.... Astonishing really. But the best of the best will be paid amounts that we cannot really understand.
I was just listening to a podcast who worked out that Ossie Ardiles at spurs in the 80s was on £40k a year.
You cannot compare F1 to football.
Footballers bring in more money in general considering how popular the sport is globally.
Also not all footballers earn huge amounts of money. Yes they get a lot, especially when they get to the Premier League but you'd be surprise that most footballers in the Premier League are on average £40k a week tops. If you remove the very top earns like Haaland etc and just look at good players say like Rodrigo (Leeds player) then they aren't on above £100k a week.
I would like to add that you generally across the board that until a footballer gets into the best league, they don't really earn massive numbers. It's not like Danny Wilson, playing for Coventry is on £20k a week, it's more like £5k a week if that.

Poor things. I'm surprised they can afford to eat enough to be able to run around for 90 minutes a week,Ankh87 said:

Some of the lower paid bods in PL squads this coming season will be on 40k a year.I’m not sure if you’re trying to say that F1 drivers are overpaid compared to footballers or vice versa?
A top F1 driver is allegedly on £40m a year. If this were football, that would be reported at £770k per week, which sounds enormous.
But F1 has a lot more travelling, time away from home, danger to oneself, sponsor obligations and, perhaps most crucially, there are only 20 F1 drivers in the world versus probably 3 or 4 times that (if one looks globally) top-league footballers.

An F1 driver is risking his life, at high speed, every time he gets in a car
I know F1 is much safer than it used to be
F1 drivers deserve all they earn
That's true, and F1 performance is very cut-throat, but footballers are much more prone to career ending/declining injuries from the moment they step on the pitch.I know F1 is much safer than it used to be

I'm not saying that they aren't getting a lot of money. I'm pointing out that it's not as much as everyone makes it out to be. Don't get me wrong they are paid very well but they have huge bills to pay. They have like health insurance which can be like £30k a year. Sometimes a club will pay it for a player, sometimes they won't. Even car insurance is huge. That's why you see a youth player driving around in a 1.0l Corsa, yeah he's on a good salary but his insurance is like £5k a year. There's a database which has what they believe is a soccer players salary. Holds some information there. You'll see there roughly how much they earn. Just 2 clubs for example. One that is a Championship club that has rose to the Prem. The other an ex Premier League club that is back in the Premier League.

They'll be youth players training with the firsts before their first professional contract. Even championship average is £4k a week.It can't be too accurate, they've got Rhys Norrington-Davies on £400 a week though other sources have said he's on £6,700.
