E63 wheel choice

My 645i currently sits on 20 inch Alpina wheels. They look good, but the ride is a bit firmer than I would prefer.
Coming up to the MoT, it needs new tyres all round. My thought is to tidy up and sell the Alpinas and buy (new or s/h) 19 inch wheels, then fit new boots to them.
Which combination of wheels & tyres do PHers find works best? Any advice gratefully received.

I fitted 351Ms off the F10/11 5 series to my F01 730D and it was the perfect move away from the 20" Style 253s
Dropping to 19s made a superb difference in the ride and handling, as well as overall comfort and noise levels
They're great looking alloys too and would highly recommend them; more so with non RFTs fitted too
From 20s:
To 19s:
Via a set of 18" Style 234s that I ran over winter with winter tyres:
I know that's all F series but very similar wheels & specs
The Style 218s suit the E6x series to a tee IMO:

Dropping to 19s made a superb difference in the ride and handling, as well as overall comfort and noise levels
They're great looking alloys too and would highly recommend them; more so with non RFTs fitted too

I also really like the Ellipsoid alloys fitted to the early models, they are quite uncommon though.
