Just taken delivery of a new 2 Series with the latest iDrive and every time I open the door the stereo and ignition come on. Very annoying if you are just getting something out the car to have the radio blasting. For the life of me I can’t find how to turn the function off!!! Any ideas welcomed! Thanks

Have you checked the handbook, which is also in the infotainment system?

Not a direct answer to your issue but

on my old 3 series the radio would keep playing until you locked the car. Very annoying as you arrive somewhere and open the door to have music blasting. It meant I switched it off and rarely used the stereo. Eventually I bought a programmer and an app on the phone which allowed me to change the settings.

No need to do that you just have to double press the start/stop button (making sure your foot isn’t on the brake otherwise the engine starts again)

Indeed.
Single press stops the engine, but leaves the car in ‘radio ready’ state (current consumers remain operable)
Second press stops any current consumers (= equipment that consumes a current)
