Heat resistant gear stick/knob
Discussion
Graham Varley got some "resin" gear sticks made years ago, don't know nowadays Dom @ Powers would be my first enquiry. Other simple option tried are heat resistant washes between the stick and the knob, don't know if it works.
I tend to cover my knob when parked up with the roof off , the European temperatures recently would have produced as much heat as the gearbox

Ive decided replacing gearbox/ Dif and engine oil on a regular basis regardless of mileage works best for me on my Chim.
If your gear lever is very warm on long motorway runs I’d start with the oil.
I can’t remember what the service interval is off hand but like my engine oil and based on yearly use around 4000 miles or so replacing the oils is the best medicine.
It’s inevitable if your pushing all the hp through it’s going get hot but general driving I found my lever only gets mildly warm whenever fresh oil is put in.

The heat from a Chim V8 is nothing like the heat from a Speed Six exhaust , and I guess the proximity of the cats to the gearbox won't help.
Yeah I was wondering if that’s the case as my mates Tuscan gear knob used to get very warm. Edited by glow worm on Friday 28th July 09:29
My Chim one would too but definitely much better since regular oil changes.
