CW2 Accord Type S ownership, what's it been like
Discussion
Hello Honda owner's,
I am wondering what ownership has been like with a CW2 Accord Type S as I am looking at getting one for my next daily. I am referring to the Accord Torque GT sell on a fairly frequent basis. I am wondering what the trial and tribulations of ownership has been like, any and all tid bits of information is appreciated.

My understanding is that they sold that shape Accord and that engine (not necessarily together) in the UK so parts availability shouldn't be a problem and 'normal' mechanics will be able to carry out routine repairs and maintenance. Worth finding a local specialist or two if you want to take good care of it, but that applies to all cars I suppose. The K24 probably doesn't have quite the same aftermarket as the K20, but still healthy.
I have a JDM Accord and while I have spent a fair bit of money on it, most of it was voluntary and I've had no issues in getting any jobs done.

Hi,
I've got a 2009 Tourer 2.2 diesel that we have had as a family car for 9 years. Couple of thoights:
1. The build quality is fantastic - this was actually designed as the Acura TSX for the US market to compete head on with Mercedes, BMW, Lexus etc. It feels very solid.
2. Reliability - in 9 years and 100,000 miles the only thing that has failed is a cracked manifold, nothing else.
3. It seems to chew through brakes but that is probably my wife's driving!
4. The boot is quite small on the tourer, the rear wheel arches intrude a lot. This is becasue Honda used the same chassis on the saloon as the tourer rather than redesign the tourer as on previous versions.
5. It benefits from larger diameter wheels, seems to ride much better on 18" than 17". Seems to overcome the front understeering.
6. My local Honda dealer are great - always keen to keep me a happy customer

I've had my (quite rare) Pearl White 2010 Type S diesel tourer for just shy of 9 years, and done just shy of 90k in that time and its on just over 140k now. I went from a 2003 Lexus IS200 to the Accord and it was a step up in terms of modern kit, more performance and equal if not better build quality. Its not 'fast' but is quick enough to feel fast around normal traffic if that makes sense. Sits at 80 on the motorway with a car full of family and camping stuff and handles a bit of weight fine.
In the time I've had it, it had a pair of drive shafts to cure a vibration under acceleration, which seems to be a not rare but not common fault. The aircon pump seized last year, and struggled getting a new one, but I suspect alot of that was the hangover of covid supply problems, so ended up fitting a previosly enjoyed one and its been fine. Cracked egr pipes are quite common, and mine cracked last year and while it didn't seem to affect how it drove, you could occasionally smell a bit of exhaust when stopped by lights. It's a honda only part and a pain in the a$$ to change, so in the end I bought blanking plates that I managed to fit by just loosening bolts rather than removing the whole pipe, but I have got small hands and it did involve a bit of swearing.
The front brakes are Type S only, but readily available, just need to check measurements before ordering, I've almost ordered the wrong ones once when they had been mis labeled on website, but the measurements are a worthwile double check.
Good luck with your search, when I bought mine I was just looking for a regular Accord Tourer, and mine popped up on Autotrader in a dealer in Cambridge. Only catch was I live in South Wales, so that was a long day to collect!
Incidentally I'm hoping to sell mine at the end of the summer to buy a van to convert to a camper, but I need the Accord for our holidays and the end of August. I will miss it though. It's been part of a 'do most jobs' fleet for us. I've daily driven the Accord, my wife has got a Jazz, and I've also got a '07 MX5, and they all compliment each other. The MX5 is a bit quicker and brilliant fun, but tiresome on the motorway, but the the Accord is brilliant at that. Planted at any speed and in any condition. The Jazz is the car I usually grab the keys of for doing boring stuff like popping to town or taking my boy to football with its smaller size and not really being too precious about it in car parks, but you do always feel like your sitting on it where as the Accord your cocooned in it. I wouldn't be upset if it had been my only car though, whilst no MX5 is is enjoyable to drive fast, and 'whooshes' really well. It is quite big so a bit tighter in car parks than the Jazz, but with big mirrors and the rear camera its not a real issue.
All round it's been a brilliant car, rare enough that you do get asked questions about what it is, but underneath is still just a Honda so it just works and you can get bits for it.

I bought a new Accord type S tourer in 2003 and kept it for 16 years!
By far the most reliable car I have ever owned. We did about 140k miles in that time.
It had its original exhaust for 13 years. The only problem I had with it was the remote opening tailgate, which was caused by a couple of broken wires. Easily fixed once it was identified.
I loved the 2.4 Vtec engine.
