Is it time for BOP in Formula One?
Discussion

Clearly the FIA can’t control the teams, two sets of rules and two massively dominant teams, is it now time for success penalties or a BOP leveller?
Use the existing restrictions on wind tunnel time, but make the slope bigger from first to last. Perhaps also add a budget element, so the champions have a smaller budget for the following season.Sandpit Steve said:

Well thought out structured reasoned argument, why not? It wouldn’t stifle development as team need to stay competitive
Because BOP is st. The best engineering should win in prototype racing.Adrian W said:

I think even Toto Wolff has said something similar

Toto did indeed say that it’s up to everyone else to be faster. Horner said the same when Mercedes were the fastest. It’s one of few things on which they agree!
If you want to see racing where all the cars are the same, then watch a spec series. F2 is on shortly.

Horner did not say anything of the sort did he? He was constantly bleating about Merc and how many times did Red Bull threaten to leave F1 and protest?
Whilst Horner may be a dick and was clearly speaking for his own benefit at the time (like he always does) it doesn’t mean that BoP is a good thing. F1 is based on meritocracy. It should always be thus.

I didn’t say anything about the BoP being welcome and wholeheartedly agree. I was merely pointing out that Horner whinged constantly and is a hypocrite.F1 is based on meritocracy. It should always be thus.
