It does make sense to set up this sort of thing for e.g. people attending Silverstone though, where there’s people discussing viewing locations or finding a bar to meet up - but if everyone usually on here, goes to some other platform during the actual race, then it devalues this forum.
Not all of us use WhatsApp or Facebook.

It was inspired by the Le Mans Grapevine. Idea is to share updates on the race, questions and advice on tickets, parking, etc..., chat on where to watch from, etc... It seemed to work well for Le Mans so we've tried it for Silverstone.
As a proposal, given it's PH and more UK oriented, the WhatsApp group could have a Silverstone focus for the race weekend and then be a more general F1 chat for the rest of the season?
Also happy to share the WhatsApp Admin role with anyone who also wants to be an Admin.
Take the point that not everyone is on FB or WhatsApp (I'm not on FB myself) and that it could detract from the forum itself. Obviously not a good outcome. My sense is that there's a place for both. The forum continues during and between race weekends and is ideal for longer form discussions. A WhatsApp group would run in parallel to this and I imagine most of the discussion would be during FP, quali, and the race on what's happening at that moment.
