This might sound like an odd one but here goes.

I've owned a Mk1, and 2 Mk2.5's. All were great but ultimately fell foul to rust (Mk2's) or stupidity (Mk1 - my mistake). A fair amount of my driving has involved sitting around in traffic and one abiding issue I've always had is with the heat in the footwell, especially in summer. Despite having the blower on full blast in an effort to blow some of the heat out, the footwells have all been very hot.

Anyway.... I'm in the market for a Mk3 and am wondering if the hot footwell issue is the same as it has been for the Mk1 & Mk2's.

Never heard of that problem.
Rust is always a problem, find Performance Link on Facebook. They currently have my car for a full strip back to bare metal and rust protect.

Maybe it's just me then. If that's your car on performance link, it certainly looks like they're doing a decent job

I have a LH drive Mk. 2.5. The exhaust pipes pass right next to drivers side inside footwell wall.

It was always very hot, especially in summer.

A few months ago, I wrapped the exhaust pipes with some thick layers of fibreglass exhaust wrapping tape and the difference is amazing.

Could it be heat from the transmission tunnel ending up in the footwell?
