F13 differential input flange wobbles.

Whilst replacing the rear guibo on my 640d last week I noticed a lot of play in the flange and the large insert nut that screws onto it. I’ve watched some videos of people replacing the diff seal and when they prize the blue ‘seal’ off, the nut just pulls off so I can’t think why mine is wobbly as the blue ‘seal’ which I presume holds it in place seems to be seated right. Also, is it really just that plastic ring that holds the huge nut on the input shaft?
