Brake pads - Red, Yellow, Green stuff. - Anyone used them?

Anyone used these pads? I have the ford brakes which work fine except for a hard track day where I get a bit of fade. One suggestion was to use the "red green or yellow stuff" pads. Anyone used these?

A frend of mine fitted Green ones to his Integra type R, and on our recent visit to the ring said they were much better than the standard.

Green stuffs faded signifcantly (gassed up) on heavy braking - IMO stay well clear of the greens. Cannot speak for the others.

I’ve tried the green and the red. Both with poor results.

The green ended up smoking their little hearts out. I changed these for red stuff and they were slightly better but these ended up going very brittle. The guy in the shop asked me what I had done with them as he scraped the pad with a key and lumps of pad fell away.

I told him i had done a few 150mph to 5mph stops with them and that was the result.

Both pads left black patches on the disc surface which are apparently a residue of the kevlar in the pads (don’t know it its true but the discs looked worst for the wear)

I even used some temperature paint on the discs to make sure they were not getting to hot. I cant remember the results now but it was barely changing the paint colour. All the heat was going into the pads

I got a refund on the red stuff pads and was told they would go back to EBC and changed to Mintex 1155 pads which are fantastic

I assume you properly bedded the brake pads before doing that test.

I am sure ( factory jump in if I am wrong ) we used Mintex pads for the record breaking stops, they were very consistent, powerful as you would expect ....

Only downside is they squeak like hell if you are just lghtly braking and cold

I've had EBC greens and red and they were shite. To be honest i've always gone by the moto "you get what you pay for" and going from EBC pads to proper brake brands, i.e. brembos, AP and minex I can say its money well spent and reassuring knowing I have stopping power capable (and more) for my car.

The only thing that concerns me is that the discs seem to wear more than the pads themselves (or perhaps equally). Is this common or am I wrong? I have no idea how much a set of discs are but they must be a hell of a lot more than just a set of Mintex pads!?

intresting comments about the green/red stuff. I was nearly about to indulge in a set of disks and pads on my (non ult) motor. I think a friend of a friend works at mintex.. better make a call....
