What is says on the tin really, how many of you folks have a personal plate and what do people think of them.

I have one and personally think they are a good bit of fun and a way to individualise your vehicle.
My dad and girlfriend are both looking at plates for their new cars (both V15 incidentally) so that would be a cool collection!

Does anyone have any interesting plates or stories they would like to share?

:D

All the directors of my firm have a plate that is the initials of the Company name. Its a bit of fun in the car park...

I have one for the daily. Bought it a: to disguise the age, and b: it gives just a small amount of individuality to the car, that would otherwise be bland and boring.

I got mine with my old E21 Bimmer when I bought it when I was 17. It's very appropriate with "MIB 323i" as I used to wear alot of black back then and the car is a 323i.
It could also be interpreted as "Mechanically Injected BMW 3-2-3i" or even "My-Insurance-Broker 3-2-3i" because it was so incredibly difficult to get someone to get someone to insure a 17 year old in North London back then....

Mine has my full name on it. First name and surname.

(I have a short name!)

A bit posey but it was a present and I like it.

I don't have but would quite like an ageless plate.

plates with the car make in them are kind of ok

everyday plates with the characters illegally spaced to try and make a word are a bit pants IMO.

The Chimaera has a personalised plate - my parents bought it for me. Which was nice.

Mine was on the car when I got it. And it's a PITA as it makes the car look older than it is. So the MOT is always wrong, and getting parts can be interesting:

Me: It's a 97
Parts Guy: No thats a 95 plate.
Me: ARRGH...

Bought one for myself as it contained my nickname and was going cheap on E-bay - I love the individuality, but dislike the fact it makes the car (and driving) more memorable.

Looks like we have a few plate lovers on here too then! I have always been interested and I am planning to try and buy and sell a few plates privately when I can spare a little more capital than I can at the moment.
