Carbons

My question is are they suited to the GT3 of this vintage?

Can they cheaply be replaced with steels or resurfaced.

Mixed reviews - quality supposedly not as good as later carbons. Though they are light in and supposedly makes the car feel better on turn in. I have a .2 with steels and wouldn't want carbons - I use it only as a road car though.

They can be swapped out for steels easy enough and can be resurfaced but that is still costly.

On the 997s it's like the PDK vs manual debate. People have a preference one way or the other based on a number of factors.

I'm in the steel camp and would avoid buying a car with carbon brakes. Others will post the opposite!

Or just buy with carbon ceramics and change to steels. It's not that expensive in the big scheme of things ie compared to the cost of the car. Generally carbon for road and steels for track but it depends on how big your pockets are.

Is it just a case of fitting new steel disks & replacing pads to suit?

I assume calipers can remain?

Ps - I have an 996 Turbo S with carbons for over 11 years
Pluses
180,000 km still fine.
Very little dust.
( I don’t track it - occasional short hillclimbs. )
