my s2 has developed a miss on acceleration just recently, anywhere from 3000rpm upwards. It is very intermittent and seems to fix itself and the yellow warning light on the dash comes on from time to time as well. I have changed the plugs, could it possibly be the coil packs? or ECU fault? Is this a dealer-only fix and should I brace myself to empty my wallet !
anyone else experienced this and what did you do to fix the problem?
I had an s1 previously and had no problems at all with it.

How do you find your S2 in comparison to your S1? Handling/performance wise etc

Probably the least useful thread drift of all time.

No idea on the problem I'm afraid mate. Sounds like a sensor / ecu problem.

Best get it to your dealer to have a look

Get a life, while he gives a response to me, others who have a clue what the problem might be can offer some good advice.

You clearly don't have any idea what it is so why did you respond?

Oh well done for that sage advice.

Someone posts a thread about a specific topic and you reply with probably the most general and frequently asked question in Elise history which has absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

Have you tried the archives? I'm sure they will provide you with hours of reading on the subject. Either that or start your own thread.

I'm very sorry that I dont know the cause or cure of the problem. I simply suggested that he would be better off having the car looked at by a dealer as it doesnt sound like a problem which can be fixed by a spanner and a can of WD40. I will try and do better next time.

You have obviously provided a lot of help and advice to people during your 36 months of membership on here.

Could it be the same problem which affects VXs where water gets down past the plugs? Does your car sit outside a lot?

coil packs shouldn't cost much if it's them.

Throttle opening properly/too much? Ecu dumping too much fuel down? How is the economy - worse than before? Plug leads breaking down under load?

Had the same problem on mine, hesitation on the throttle, revs kept cutting out down to tickover MIL came on intermitantly at first, eventually stayed on. Took car to dealer, the TPS (throttle posistion sensor) was deemed to be the problem. New one fitted under warranty, all ok now. TPS costs around £50 I believe, so not so bad news.

Same happened to me. Not under warranty unfortunately but £56 later and I was away.

thanks for your help folks.
enjoyed the handbag gag - made me laugh, life is too short guys so dont get bitchy!
I seem to have the problem fixed now, I tried 2 new coil packs and that didnt seem to make a difference, so I put 2 new plug leads (rover 25) and all is well now!
Ive been out playing the last 2 nights and no misses yet.
