Suggest a 2nd hand car for my wife and me

I'm quite tall, with much of that extra height being in my legs. I automatically move the seat of any car back as far as it will go and that''s usually not far enough for me. My wife is only around 5'2" and is fine in any car.

I'm usually more comfortable in cars where the seat is quite high in relation to the floor of the car. The floors in 4X4s are too high to make them any more comfortable for me than normal cars.

The car needs to be no larger than medium, and have four doors as it will need to accommodate 3 adults from time to time. A hatchback would be good, and available with auto gearbox. Petrol preferred as it will mainly be short journeys and I understand that can be an issue with diesels.

Not interested in brisk motoring but enough power to overtake tractors would be good

Price range £5K to £15K

That's a wide budget with your wife being 5.2 any hatchback will be fine, I'm 6'7 & have to move pretty much every seat to it's lowest seating position & right back so I'll list the ones that have given me the best driving position.

If you have a car supermarket near you should be able to look at most of the examples you're interested in.
