FWIW I've run Michelin PS4, then Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport, and now PS4S on my Renault Sport Megane. I haven't noticed a fat lot of difference between any of them, as I don't review tyres for a living, and I'm obviously comparing a worn out set with brand new. They are all great tyres.
The Goodyears' did wear quicker, but they are cheaper. I only bought them as at the time PS4S were not available in 18", and I wanted the stiffer side walls over the PS4.
My use is daily driving and Sunday morning blasts.

I've recently replaced Michelin Pilot SuperSports with Continental SportContact7s and they are very good. I was trying to find PS4S, but they were not available in most places and the Continentals were launched earlier this year with great reviews compared with the PS4S, so I deviated from Michelin and I'm glad I did.
All four (255 40 R19 front and 285 35 R19 rear) for under £1k.

I went from mpss on my m2c to ps4s and it was a game changer, the mpss were absolutely terrible in anything other than perfect conditions, the ps4s are so much better all round, much better cold, wet, damp grip and feel just as good when pushing on, I will never go back to PSSS

Michelins always last so much longer. PS4S probably best for all rounder if its a daily driver.
Bridgestone are garbage in my experience. Goodyear very variable.
Contis be lucky if they last half what the Michelins do, had them numerous times, good tyres but wear out so fast. Saving £30 on a tyre doesn't mean much if it only last half the time.
Yes PS4S are a less focused all rounder jack of all trades and will last the longest.
I went other way on my M2C from PSS up to Cup2, i don't use it to commute or anything but it's remarkably good in the wet, better than pss, and in the dry its a whole new world...
After 3000 miles can't see any wear.

I've gone FROM Cup 2 to PS4S for my M3 (daily car though). I was suitably impressed with the Cup 2 though, from Internet folklore I should have died when I took the car out in sub zero temperatures in March. As a daily I prefer the 4S, although only got them on the back at the moment, the front Cup 2 will be changed in a few days. Contis be lucky if they last half what the Michelins do. I've never run mixed tyres in recent years, it's hard to tell what's what i find. I always change the 4 and sell part worns on ebay.Yeah lol, cup2 internet said I'd be through the hedge backwards first sign off rain, rubbish...

I've never had a good experience with Contis. I had them on both the Z4M and the E92 M3 and they weren't great for me. Plus recently I put some Contis on the rear of the Merc(and that is 4WD) and they only lasted 3 months/6k miles! I'm never going anywhere near a Continental tyre again for sure. mikeN54 said:

It's been fine. No issues, and I drove very hard in north Scotland without issues. I always replace a whole axle but front/back I've done a few times and no issues, but it will be getting MPS4S up front tomorrow.

Cost wise wasn't too bad, tracked them down online front's and rears from different places and had them fitted at home. Managed to find propers sizes with STAR rating, there only two specific OE special compound tyres made for M2C sizes, the original PSS and these Cup 2s which are OE options if you buy the 763M wheel set.They were cheaper than the newer daft Cup2 connect tyres.
I only tried them because I put the M2 away for the winter now since last year. Yes I won't get near the warm limits of Cups2 on the road (or PS4S for that matter) but they make such an amazing difference to the way the car drives, steers, feels as it moves over imperfections in the road, over crests etc, really magic stuff.
.just not in the cold.

To be honest I am surprised with the Cup 2. Everyone said "they don't last long at all", mine were down to 4-4.5mm before a road trip to Scotland where I did a little over 2k miles. They didn't even go down 1mm. They're largely still at 4mm but they're fairly old and the sidewalls are a bit cracked so I'm getting them done anyway. Regarding comments above on Contis, even the missus A35 merc chewed through contis in 6K and she drove it like a granny.
