Personally would love to see another tyre war but I understand that it makes things difficult when tyres are 'designed' to go off after x laps.

It won't be another tyre war though. This is just a bidding battle to establish a fresh contract to be the official tyre supplier to F1.

It doesn't matter who wins from our point of view, whoever it is will still make tyres precisely as terrible as the sports management requests them to be.

Bridgestone, pirelli, Goodyear... Will all ultimately make the same tyre in response to the same demanded spec. It's just a bidding war to get the F1 attachment.
