This is typical of the motoring media, you'd have thought that if a bloke in Blackpool, with a box of spanners, can build a car like the Sagaris, that would be something to be proud of.
Incidently, I was talking to a chap today who's just sent his 6 month old boxter back in disgust after bits kept falling off it!
I wonder how much air time they'd give that on Top Gear?

Actually, if we're being totally pedantic, it's Glass-fibre Reinforced Plastic. "Fibreglass" is like "Hoover", "Biro" or "Tarmac" - a trade name that has become a generic name for something.

It's not about what it's made of, it's the derision.
They just can't accept that TVR do well in such polls.
Would they deride the boxster if it had won it's class. I doubt it.
They would say "Now the winner of the sports car category is the Porsche Boxster" and well deserved too.
But the TVR wins so they have to make some derogatory statement.

I generally favour the opinion of mr may and his rather direct and conservative view on motoring he owns some real classics you know... , like the hoover , dyson comment too, i always vacum the carpet.
My point being, if we are to moan about auntie's presenters what about the hideous little twerp with the short man complex.. to quote that episode, Mr Hammond said : "i hate TVR's they smell like canoes and airfix glue, and when you open the windows the back window blows out..." but, then he does drive a 80's red porsche with a ironing board on the back, don't appreciate his choice in dogs much either.... mine smells of leather and 98 octane!

i must admit i to get a bit piss
ed off at all the topgear bods they seem to enjoy slating off the uk car industry , they would,t know a good sports car if it hit them in the bollox some of the best sports cars in the world are made of plastic !!! crap they have,nt got the balls to have a Ultima on because it would upset the big boys would love to see more TVR,s Ultima,s Westfields etc on the programe it would be a lot more interesting !!!

These people are paid to give an opinion. Their opinion is generally that they don't like TVRs.
Now I don't like Porsches. I also don't like fast Jap cars. Not for any particular reason, they're just not my thing. If anybody asked, I'd probably say that I'd look stupid in a Porsche.
I don't understand why you find it so difficult to accept that not everybody likes TVRs. Its not rocket science.

IIRC what he said was "thats a surprise a car made in a Blackpool plastics factory" Which is an even worse comment than the one posted?
Got to agree with pauline though, what do you expect from james May, this is the guy that when asked whats his idea of the 'BEST' British car, he chose the........................ Rover 75 nuf said??!!
