Someone gave me a lump of iron pyrite which looked great so I stuck it in the birdbath with a bunch of other rocks and crystals.
After a week it didn't look so great! I guess it rusted.
I tried a wire brush on a drill which didn't achieve much.
Is there any way I can bring back the glitter?

slight thread hijack / thread swerve...

how should 'pyrite' be pronounced?

I have always pronounced the first syllable as 'pie', but I heard someone say it is you would with 'pin', and it has me questioning everything I know to be true

For me it's pyrites - pie-rit-eez.

Where does the 's' come from or have you got two of them?

For me (geologist) it’s pie-right in the singular, pie-right-ease for the plural, but it is usually referred to in the plural. As a lump, definitely in the plural, in a thin section, possibly the singular.

I didn't know that in which case I withdraw my previous comment wink I agree it's pie-rite though and as it's more commonly referred to in the plural I agree with Simpo too biggrin
