New 997 Turbo Owner
Discussion
Hello Y'all -
Thanks to the wise advice on this thread I am now proud owner of this 2008 997 Turbo
Took a ride all the way up to just near the Lake District yesterday morning, then drove all the way back down to the sunny south.... in the blistering temps of yesterday.
It has just 39k miles on it, so was considering trailering it back - but fancied the drive
Comments on the previous thread from nebpor, Orangecurry Moikey Fortune at al. were all absolutely spot on -
The kick-down accelleration is just BRUTAL.
Already have a list of tweaks to get it a bit more special (GT2 rears and possibly an exhaust)
Anything else worth considering (once my finances have recovered
)
The kids were quickly put to work to clean off the bug splats

Do it. GT2 rear (and front). OEM very dear but NR Autos sell replica GT2 parts and no need to change all the ancillaries like I had to behind front and rear bumpers on my turbo.

Congrats, great cars! Get a feel for it and then decide what you want to do. Great chomping up miles and excellent on the twisties. I would start with spacers and fast road geometry set up personally. My mods are a little more subtle than IMIA's think he is pushing 800/900hp?, I’m at a lowly 600 or so, but there are plenty of looks you can achieve. GT2 rear deck is a lovely thing.

Enjoy in good health, my current 10 year journey in the turbo is going to end this summer as I have a few new projects on the go, will be a sad day, they are excellent cars.

Excellent..good to hear you picked it up and got back with a smile on your face
As others say..use it for a while bfore deciding on any changes
Personally I like the "standard" look of the turbo...oh and my finacial advisor would advise me against it...LOL!
So once you have warmed it up..stop..blip the pedal twice to the floor...then drive off..you should notice it is all a bit more responsive
Enjoy the car!

No idea why you'd consider tailoring it home, ia new Porche especially a turbo needs to be driven.

Brave man letting the kids clean it (two bucket technique?) for risk of swirl marks etc.
Joking aside glad you're enjoyed it. They're even more epic when the conditions are wet.
All I said was 'buy yourself the mad-bonkers-turbo, and a Fiesta petrol for your wife'.
But it's a black car - leave the exterior alone, keep it a sleeper and spend the money on low ethanol fuel and trips across continents to mountains and valleys.
Oh and I've reported you for child-labour exploitation.
