Seatbelt noise

Anyone remember that VW advert where the mechanic went to great lengths to locate the annoying little squeak in the lady’s car which turned out to be her earring?, well I’ve had one for months that I’ve failed to find until now. It was coming from the rear of the car and disappeared often when I turned round to listen more intently. Well it turned out to be from the seatbelt winder, I haven’t had time to investigate yet but when I pull the seatbelt and lock it the noise disappears. I must get my oil can primed.

First, try extending the seat belt fully and spraying the belt top to bottom (well the bit that goes back into the reel) with regular furniture polish.
