Misleading or just me???

[Piglet]

I've just been looking at booking a room at a Marriott hotel, I found a good rate but wanted to check that it was cancellable as there is a possibility that the trip won't come off.....So, when I click on the "rate" button, this comes up regarding cancellation.

Is it me or is this misleading?? (£124 is the total cost of the room)

I regularly use a Marriot near us to house visiting relations and a 4pm cutoff seems to be standard for cancellations. If you are asking if a £124 cancellation fee is unreasonable, then you must remember that the chances of selling the room again after 4pm for the hotel are limited, so if you cancel late, then they lose out.

Piglet, I'm with you. Not too sure. I've always noticed that, having used Marriots before, but was never really in danger of cancellation so always ignored it.

Phone them up I suppose.

I'm going to ring them tomorrow but I read this as saying you can cancel the room up until 4pm BUT if you cancel there is a £124 cancellation charge. So I think they are saying that you can cancel before 4pm but they'll charge you anyway!

To me it doesn't say the cancellation charge only applies after 4pm - which I'd accept is reasonable.

No, I don't think that's what it means. The wording is I guess a bit vague but it's pretty standard. Cancellation up till 4pm is free, full rate after that.
