Super unethical end of lease car buy question
Discussion
I have an Audi that we lease that’s coming to the end of the agreement.
VWFS give you the option to buy the car at the end of your lease via https://www.purchasemyvehicle.co.uk/
To get a price you put your car reg in and the mileage. Now m the actual mileage of the car is 11,000 miles after 3 years and it gives us the price of 26k to buy.
We paid for 10k miles a year but never used that. If I put in 30k miles the price offered is now just over 23k. What’s stopping me putting in 30k miles and buying the car at the cheaper price?
As per the title, I know this is very unethical and I certainly would not do it….

I guess they would ask for some verification to stop this and to check when people go over the limit. Do they ask for the first MOT cert later?VWFS give you the option to buy the car at the end of your lease via https://www.purchasemyvehicle.co.uk/

If not then give it a go, you could go oops, silly me later I guess?

Isn’t getting the car serviced on the correct time and mileage intervals a mandatory part of your lease, I assume they will check that and cross reference the mileage with the dealer network?
MOT is mandatory, servicing is not. If you don’t get it services they charge you a fee on the return of the car. Last MOT might have 10k miles for example, nothing to say I’ve not done 20k miles in the last 6 months with next MOT not due for another 6 months which would be after I’ve purchased the car…
As I said, I won’t be doing this, just checking to see if it’s impossible to do anyway
Is actually quite common and I have never known it to be checked. Only time that would get noticed is a if you had a recent VW visit, MOT or plugged in their car health tracker thing they post out.
Only downside is they often mark the NMR (National Mileage Register) with the mileage you give them.

Doesn't make any sense as if you put in 100k miles presumably it is even cheaper? Audi must lose out the cheaper it gets, software glitch?
TX.
I was suggesting putting in 30k miles as my lease agreement had given me 30k miles over 3 years with no excess penalty. If I put 100k miles, I would be penalised for going over the mileage. TX.

Top man. I certainly won’t be doing it. Only downside is they often mark the NMR (National Mileage Register) with the mileage you give them.

That's pretty much what I have said
"servicing is not. If you don’t get it serviced they charge you a fee on the return of the car. "
What is required is defined in the lease agreement, which mandates servicing according to the manufacturers schedule. Your argument is akin to "I adhere to littering laws, I litter then pay the fine" "servicing is not. If you don’t get it serviced they charge you a fee on the return of the car. "
.Don't sweat it, just put the mileage as 30K. As has been said, you've paid for those miles with higher monthlies.
I did help my old man buy his car at the end of the lease (by help, I mean doing it online, which he's not au fait with). Think he was with leaseplan from memory. Their end of lease sales were handled by BCA driver sales. To buy the car, just went to the website to request a price, putting in the mileage in, and they emailed back a price. Then just agreed to go ahead and they emailed an invoice, which was paid via online banking, and had the V5 in the post a week or so later. There was no examination of wear and tear or verification of actual mileage to my knowledge.
