Hi

I have a G31 530d which is coming up to 3y old, on account of Covid its mileage is modest at 26,000 miles

My quote to extend the warranty is £678 with a 250 XS including the breakdown cover

Im a bit out of the BMW loop however recall paying a lot less than that on a previous BMW 6 pot oil burner, although everything else is a lot more money these days except my wages

The thing Im slightly curious is that I had to input my VIN before I got a quote, the car is a keeper for a few more years however has had some niggles involving 4 trips back to the dealer since it was new. Call me paranoid but is 678 the flat 530d price or is there some funny business going on and my quote is higher to reflect that its been in a few times already?

Cheers

If it is any help my 2018 F06 640d is around the same price as your quote with same excess and breakdown, currently on about 33K miles. The warranty prices quoted on the 8 series thread have rather put me off moving to an 840i with people being quoted nearer £2.5K..

I had a 520d and I think I paid circa £600 a year for the first couple of years after the warranty ran out.

Factor in inflation since then (3 years ago) and £678 seems about right.

IINM, it's not related to the spec of car (unless an 'M' model) and your dealer visit history is definitely irrelevant.

520d x drive

£678 last year and renewal just come through at the same amount this year, thats a one off payment with £250 excess including roadside recovery

2017 44k

Wifes X1 2.0 petrol is £403 per annum on same basis

I did query it and the excuse they gave is it goes up by car size...despite 1,2,3,4,5 series all using the 2.0d diesel engine !

Different car but i've just paid £339 for a year on a 66 plate 335d touring. has just done 56k miles.

No breakdown cover, with the £250 excess option.

Thanks all, thats very useful

Have just remembered that I have decent breakdown recovery through the bank - Ive leased since forever and so Id forgotten about it - and will therefore add looking at what BMW offer over and above the bank tomorrow. Its been ages although I do remember the bank didnt cover Europe so it may still be worth having

Cheers
