What IF tracks could be run in both directions?
Discussion
I have enjoyed watching the TT on TV this week & in a coffee break tried to imagine it going the other way round.
My tiny brain then moved on to the BTCC tracks.
The first corner At Thruxton would be very interesting... may just have it as a fast left hander.
I must admit, that in my much younger days that this was quite enjoyable on the early TOCA PlayStation games.

I used to compete in single venue stage rallies and Oulton was always interesting the wrong way round.
SS 1 often used to be started from the pit lane, then a run up to Lodge, (often track was frosty), corner just over the crest, cold brakes and slicks.
Just where was your braking point and remembering that there is zero room for error an the exit of Lodge.
Next up was Druids, again zero run off on the exit, followed by the car going quite light over the crest and slightly sideways down the hill at Clay Brook.
Going the correct way round was a doddle in comparison.

Hutchinson 100 ran anti-clockwise at Brands Hatch. Knockhill still runs some club races anti-clockwise.
Configuration of safety barriers, gravel traps and run-off areas tends to be unsuitable for anti-clockwise running at most circuits.

Donington: Old hairpin, Uphill through the Craner curves into Redgate... Mmmmm.

We competed in a single venue rally at Snetterton in early 2000s. Regular clockwise direction (plus bomb bay excursions) in the morning but anti-clockwise after lunch.SS 1 often used to be started from the pit lane, then a run up to Lodge, (often track was frosty), corner just over the crest, cold brakes and slicks.

Anti-clockwise was far more challenging.

Reminds me of back in the day when I was doing a lot of track days and I was at the old Anglesey track and coming down the pit straight to find a guy coming TOWARDS me. Ahh good times, good times...
Guilty. Although in my case it was Abbots, I had just spun and was darting in to the escape road. Seemed like the obvious thing to do at the time to get out of the way
I seem to remember a lot of discussion of this in the F1 forums during the start of the pandemic, as they were looking for places to race and Silverstone Backwards was suggested. Some of the (very bored) sim guys even did videos of it, and very bored journalists wrote pieces about it.
Sadly the idea was a non-starter, as it would be too much work to reconfigure barriers, gravel traps and other track infrastructure to go in both directions. they ended up using the conventional circuit twice on consecutive weekends, with different tyres and (luckily) different weather.

Knockhill runs both ways. However, pretty sure it's only Scottish championship level at highest and not sure they flip the direction both ways during the same race day.
Having something like the BTCC package or BSB having to negotiate both ways in the same meeting would be a spectacle for sure. A different meaning to reverse grid.

A reversed reserved grid race.Having something like the BTCC package or BSB having to negotiate both ways in the same meeting would be a spectacle for sure. A different meaning to reverse grid.
But a stand-alone reversed Knockhill round for the BTCC would be interesting.
