We’re back in Canada, which can serve up some fantastic racing (2008, 2011) so let’s hope it’s better than last year. For you Hamilton fans, this was where he won his first GP in 2007.

Expect more Red Bull/Max domination of course. Mercedes has struggled here so it will be a good test of its upgrades, Ferrari need to start making progress.

If you’re new to F1 and wonder who Gilles Villeneuve was, here you go: https://youtu.be/wx7A-jtJv2o

Here’s to a great race.

Thanks PIAP.
One thing, under Tyre Options, the graphic doesn’t match the text.

I think we might see a cracking race for 2nd here (or 3rd depending on whether Perez finds a bit more form). I reckon the Mercs, Ferrari and Alonso, maybe even the Alpines will be pretty close and should make for some good action.

Thanks PiaP!

Max for a wafty win by three laps, if he goes for it 100%.

By 20 seconds at the keep-'em-keen 50%... biggrin

I’m going to tune in for this one! My favourite GP to watch, love the track and there’s always some beauty of a drama here to unfold! Historically Lewis does well here, maybe with that seemingly faster merc from Spain he can secure second, cant see past a Max victory!

Ferrari to epically screw the pooch here once more, can feel a Russell calamity and 2 safety cars this race!

Call me mystic Meg!

Happy viewing to all and hopefully no slinging afterwards!

Thanks again to the Rt Hon PIAP! smile

Hard to see anything other than a Redbull 1-2 here, Mercedes best of the rest with Redbull simply managing the gap at will.

Aston Martin will try everything in their power to get Stroll near the front, but he will bin it during qualy and start from the pit lane. Alonso to come home 4th or 5th.

Ferrari to be an utter shambles.

Thanks for the thread PiaP, sadly my views are much the same as others, RB to manage the gap out front with MV running well within the cars capabilities, SP getting scruffier each week whilst pushing, hopefully Merc will continue to improve, Ferrari, standard poor choices in strategies and driver errors, FA back on form, LS to bin it, everyone else scrapping over the rest of the positions.

Thanks PiAP.

Norris victory, with Williams 2-3.

Or a Red Bull win. I just can’t decide.

Thanks, PiaP.
I hope that the wildfires don't spread to threaten the race - even if it's as simple as not allowing the medical helicopters to fly.

That certainly would be the second biblical plague on F1 races - plague of frogs next?

Looks like the fires wont affect it, bits of rain about but longer range forecasts can be iffy.

Thank PIAP.

I’m going to have a stab in the dark and suggest Max will win this one. Risky bet I know, but you know, living on the edge and all that!

It’s a race I enjoy, so will be looking forward to it.

I think Max will stuff it into the wall of champions (ironic given the help he had from 1, Masi and 2, the caterers), which will surely mean a victory from Merc.

And will Ferrari announce a wholesale replacement of all key personel with the winners from their LeMans effort?

Thanks PiaP for this. Brilliant as always

Aston Martin bringing their first big upgrade package this weekend, I doubt they'll be hassling the Red Bull cars, but might bring them back in line with ( or in front of?) the Mercs. This battle is much more exciting to me than whatever is going on at the front!

PIAP beer

Love Canada but can't see anything but Max running away with this one although at this moment in time looks like it's going to be very wet, so guess we'll see.

Otherwise Merc's behind and then Aston/Ferrari. Hopefully someone like Ocon or Norris can pull out a blinder from somewhere.

Let's hope for rain here, best chance of something other than another easy MV win.

Thankfully it does look like the fire cloud is staying away, although it's causing havoc elsewhere in North America at the moment.

Aston Martin with a new floor here, but this is another un-representative circuit for testing aero upgrades, with only slow chicanes rather than faster corners. Things looking very tight in general this season, with the top 10 (well, places 2-10 anyway) quite unpredictable going into the qualifying session.

The timings are later than I recall for this one too, qualy session at 16:00 local time, which is my midnight in the sandpit. Thankfully a couple of hours earlier for the race.

Thanks PiaP for the thread as always.

Same here... I'd go for a McLaren 1-2 and Williams in 3rd.

Was pleased for Giovinazzi - may or may not help him get back into an F1 seat but he got to remind everyone why he was in F1 in the first place.

Voted Max but be interesting to see if the Merc form carries forward from the last race
