Covers you didn't know were covers?

Girls just wanna have fun by Cyndi Lauper was absolutely guaranteed to figure on the playlists at every one of our teenage parties in the Eighties.
I've only just found out it's a cover of a completely obscure 1979 album track by some bloke called Robert Hazard, who I'd never heard of!
Anyone else got any famous covers which they always thought were original songs?

Went through the entire '80s through to the early 2010s not realising that No Escape by Chelsea was a cover of a song by The Seeds.

For years I didnt know "I will always love you 2 was a cover. Written by Dolly Parton originally. Story goes she wrote that and Jolene on the same day, freak.
And Dolly's version is a million times better than the warbling and waily Whitney! (For a surprisingly great cover of Jolene - see Miley Cyrus)Scabutz said:

I like the story that Col Tom Parker wanted to rip her off for the writing royalties if Elvis were to sing it so she had the sense to tell him to go away & made a fortune from it.Gassing Station | Music | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
