My 235i is due a brake fluid service so I looked up some online prices. All the neighbouring non Sytner prices come up all the same at £88.85 whilst all the Sytner branches come up at £144.12. The prices for major service is £494 at non Sytner and £797 at Sytner. Is this a glitch or have Sytner just decided to massively increase their prices?

Just ring them or use non-Sytner. I’ve had similar with other BMW dealers and it’s best to simply pick up the phone.

Since the pandemic this is a problem with Sytner. On the phone you are directed to a human with a pricelist and that's it. No perspective or judgement.

I was recented quoted a price for tyres that was more than double the next most expensive for the same ones. I laughed and explained that that cannot be correct, could they check again. No help.

Walked into the local Sytner dealership, price the same as most retailers was quoted. Thank you.

Vote with your feet.

Find a good BMW specialist or Independent, they will do just as good a job, if not better.

The garage I have used for many years for all my cars charged £54 for the brake fluid change on my 5 series a few months ago, all updated on the BMW system and I know it was done properly.

I’ve found my local Sytner very expensive too. I was waited nowhere near the prices mentioned for stuff like the brake fluid on here (£119).

I just don’t use them for anything other than parts.

Happy to use an independent just finding one that can update service history on BMW servers. I’m based in High Wycombe. I do like pottering about the showroom however and looking at the cars on display sadly. Other BMW dealers are further away.

I’ve just checked back on my service histories.
Albeit in 2021, but
335d BMW main dealer, brake fluid £8.08, plus labour £23.67 plus £11.67 service scope (VAT on top so £52.10)
Skoda Fabia at local garage, £36 labour plus £14 fluid (plus VAT on top, so £53.72)

Sytner are taking the piss in comparison to the above prices; I was quoted £119 for the brake fluid change on my 335i.

Indi definitely. If your service book has got all the services at BMW for first 3 years, I'd be quite happy to then see Indi stamps for year 4+. Also for extras like Brake Fluid, I wouldn't worry too much about an Indi doing the work.

The last brake fluid change at my local Dealer for my 640d was £72 + vat (£86). Many dealers have a different price for cars over 3 years old. Doesn't look like you are being offered this at Sytner.

My quote was apparently discounted.

I bought the DOT fluid myself (tenner for a litre of OE) and did it myself.

My car had a full BMW history but as it’s on 95k now, I’ll just self service it.

That’s exactly what I expected. The price (maybe) shouldn’t have been different to the other dealers but sometimes relying on doing everything online is utterly w#*k.

Part of the issue with Sytner is that it’s virtually impossible to speak to someone at the actual dealership re booking inn it’s all funnelled through a central booking system which is less than useless.

That’s strange. If I call Sytner BMW in Sheffield (my closest Sytner dealer), I get straight through to them.
