This has been going on for years but because so many vehicles affected around the world manufacturers, not just bmw, have to wait their turn as production of replacements has stalled the global recall.
My 2012 merc had its done late last year. The tabloid story has really upped the danger we are all doomed message though.

So BMW playing catch up or the DM a bit lax in their reporting ?

I have just asked the question re any MOT implications, ie if the failure to replace faulty airbags could result in an MOT failure, or if the tester would even know about the recall.

A good mate of mine just got a letter yesterday about his M4 needing the recall doing.

Luckily my M240i is about 18 months too new for me to have to bother it seems

I'm sure it affected dozens of manufacturers so not BMW playing catch up or anything just everyone used the same suppliers so there must have been millions around the world all needing replaced.
Not sure if it's just a certain fitting or not as on my merc it was just the front passenger bag that was replaced so not sure if some cars are drivers bags, knee bags, Side curtains etc

Got mine this afternoon (for a 2015 F31 320D Touring)...telling me to wait for another letter to say I can take it in. Ostensibly to give them time to build inventory of the parts required.

Wonder if I could swing a loaner of a new 4GC while my 2015GC is in getting it done?
