Iguana's new Porsche

Opps I cocked that up just now I'll try again
You cheeky monkeys!! especially you Jeremy C, if I wanted a plastic car I would have to push, I'd have bought a TVR!!!!!
As much as I was torn between a GT3 and a real '73 lightweight my Champagne tastes could not quite reach that level of Porkerness on my beer money, so currently gracing the driveway of my Lizard lair is a very clean early silver 2.5 944.
Ive never been a great 944 fan- I just love driving 911s, but Ive always liked the shape of the 944. The price for this one was most certainly 'right'and with its later S2 wheels looks exactly the same as a later Turbo. Maybe the rides the other Sunday in Jeremy C's Cerbie & Chaos's Tuscan got my brain craving a RWD wagon to slide my way through winter!
Its hardly a rocket ship with just over 160bhp but early 944s only weighted 1180kg so its still a 0-60 in 7 point something seconds and good for over 130mph.
Its as clean as a 2 yr old 'normal' car, has FSH and pretty much all that ever goes wrong has just been done. My good Journo mate the esteemed Dr Alex may well do a little article on this shoe string Porker so I will say no more for now....

Ther ya go Jeremy Ive sorthed my little error out now! i dont thenk anyone noticed.....
So what might be added to your hareem?? As you are on the Porsche section rather than the kit car one- opps I ment TVR, dont tell me you are thinking of some German metal in ya garage to go alongside the Plastic fantastic..... Its gona cost ya a lot if it has Cerbie matching thrust and a Porker badge.

Close, very close. As close to being a Porker as is possible without being one.

Alex, I love the car mate.
Seriously though, congratulations mate. I too really like the shape of the 944. I am such a sad bastard, if I had the place to store them, and money to waste , I would buy so many cars just for the sake of looking at them from time to time. Sad git me

You cheeky Monkey, although AJlinten is right it isnt the old Audi 100 & VW LT van engine like the original 2 litre 924 it is half a 928 V8.
The engine however is probabally why I was never a great fan of the 944. Yes it is very well balanced and quick in S2 form, while the Turbos with 220 & later 250bhp as standard and an easy 300bhp with a little wastegate modification are a lot quicker than all normilay aspirated 911s untill the 3.6 996 BUT its the sound an feel that used to put me off.
The balancer shafts may smooth the big four but the sound unlike a 911 is never inspiring, whereas similar capacity & bhp engines with more than four cylinders ie the Audi 5 pot like the 2.3 in my old Coupe GT or the BMW six or even a TVR S V6 had much more aural satisfaction.
Still Ive always got the yowl of my bike rnning a race can as it hits 13,00RPM to keep my happy on the noise front I guess....
Ps JeremyC, an RS2- sweet is it in Maritime Blue?. I had one as a runbout for a bit with a hybrid turbo so had a bit more then the stock 315bhp done 160,000 miles felt like new and still was a hard driven Ferrari 355 eater..side ny side at over 160 I dont think he could belive it mind you my labrador wasnt happy....
RS Blue, Nogaro Blue - whatever you want to call it: THAT blue.

993 brake upgrade? are you sure, standard they used a variety of Porsche brakebits with (I think) 965 3.6 Turbo/964RS front calipers. Mind you Even though the standard brakes were very powerful the RS2 is a heavy car and you can feel that if you brake from a daft speed.
