I was cautiously optimistic based on some of the leaked images but that is fking awful.

Got to be one of the worst implementations of a sensor array in the grille I’ve ever seen, especially combined with the weird joined up kidney grilles.

The model designation for this is the FOO.

Cheapest petrol £150 short of 50k while the entry electric with single motor 73k. As expected no diesel model. Good luck in that being best seller in class.

Positively attractive compared to BMW's usual efforts.

Clearly not designed with the UK market in mind at all.

Surprised they're even bothering to launch it here TBH.

The i4 40 is £60k so this was never going to be under £70k.

As someone linked to above - this is all about the choices BMW UK have made on what to import. You can still get the 520d on the continent - and wouldn't even be surprised to see it make a return to the UK a year down the line. There is an initial limitation on the number of configurations that can be certified/homologated which may also prove to be the bottleneck. This was after one of the emissions issues, when the rules got tightened up - meaning more specific models had to be homologated rather than interpolating data from a broader sample.

Vast majority of the business demand is going to end up on the two PHEVs anyway.

It looks a little add from all angles, but the back just looks wonky. It reminds me of those fake Veyrons based on Audi TTs. Or did BMW outsource design to Mitsuoka?

Perhaps this is a great candidate for Vanta Black paint?

I don't know what's going on in the OP but it doesn't look like that in other stories.

Not massively better, but you know, they remembered to bolt the grille on.

One might be the i5 and the other the 5 series?

Apart from the grille, the cars are both okay. Although they seem to go away from the lower sleeker look, with a generally horizontal boot lid. The ‘convex ‘shape of the boot is more of a Mercedes saloon shape recently. Not that keen.

I5 looks tall - because of the battery packs?

The I5 looks like a crossover with those black bits on the bumpers and sides, and its jacked-up stance. The ICE 5 looks better on the configurator in a dark colour, though none of them look great. When viewed from a rear diagonal plane the rising angle of the bottom of the rear quarterlight, combined with the steep downward angle of the boot, makes the rear end look like it's collapsing! The C-pillar is far too thin as well. The whole thing looks like it's been designed in bits by separate people who didn't communicate during the process, then stuck together.
