ok ok I knows its childish, but had a cracking off the lights gp with a new M3 last night, the guy in the M3 was loving it too

Me slightly ahead till first gear change, then neck and neck up to 2nd change at which point a ZZ top biker decided to try to join in & almost came off in an effort to make the bend ahead. Got to say, the M3 sounded great!

nobody, we both slowed down when the bike got involved as he clearly had no regard for his own life.

Dont know the exact figures but I'd guess the M3 is quicker. My friend has an E36 M3 evo and if we really blat it up to around 100 (on a track of course) he's not that far behind. The new one is supposed to be a lot quicker.

Had a great traffic light GP going to the PH meet at Virg Waters last month. Me on my bike (Bandit) & mhibbns on his 'blade. 550 Maranello rolls up and revs the engine in a hot rod style and nods at the lights. Despite £150,000 of italian stunna with a huge V12 the result was always going to be the same as even an Enzo would find it hard to beat a sub 3 second 0-60 time of a fast bike, still lots of fun for us all and wheelies in 1st & second gear gave mr Ferrari a smile and he waved and smiled as I blasted past.

This was all on a special secret bit of private land/ test track you understand.....

of course.

I've said it before but a particularly funny one was when I was in my Griffith 500, sunny sunday morning, A24, going around XXXmph when two yamaha R1's wheelied past me, stunning, mental but stunning!

Driving along a stretch of dual carriageway back from the West End and spotted a mad looking 996TT, not your standard stuff though looked different and little bit wilder, apparently could be an RUF. I noticed him doing a u turn and then blast past traffic to catch up with me. He pulled up in the lane next to me. Had a look over and thumbs up from passenger and driver, thumbs up from me and passenger and we both nailed it when the lights changed. Very, very close to something like 80, but I half shagged a gearchange and this thing was just getting into its stride, it was like I'd jumped on the brake pedal. He gained something like 200 metres on me in a very short period of time. Quick wave and he legged it off the sliproad, slingshot style speed. I like 996TT

All good fun

I must admit though, I do like those new M3's. There's a couple knocking around this side of the woods, one Cosmos Black, the other Silver and they look fantastic. Sound pretty nice to.

Regarding the bike thing:
I was at a car show last year (Think it might have been Trax). Anyway they have a 0-60 time trial on which you can run bikes, cars, tanks, whatever you feel like. I kid you not, the bikes were struggling to put in a decent time (Had a lot of trouble getting off the line without flipping the thing etc) I'm not having a go at bikes, far from it, after all they are mentally fast machines, BUT, I'd rather do this sort of thing in a car !!!!!

If I remember rightly an Escort Cosworth did it in 3.2 seconds (Bloody quick), closely followed by a TVR Cerbera

no idea how the Cerbera got traction, they normally just sit there spinning the wheels sounding fantastic.

Apparently this year's 0-60 figures at trax are all wrong. I heard the starting point was about 10metres ahead of the start line so add a second or so to the 0-60 time... :/

Doesn't the new M3 have some sort of "launch control" button thing like the F1 cars have? I'm sure I read that somewhere, but I can't remember how it was supposed to work.

At the time I thought it was another gimmick (sorry, carefully engineered safety device) to help the owners not get humbled at the traffic lights.
