Boot lid tele strut
Discussion
You just want a generic one that's close to the original spec. I think (measure your existing one) that the early Chimaera uses the same as the mk2 but not the last models. I bought both 500mm and 550mm ones giving a slightly higher more vertical lift to make roof and fuel filling easier. I think the 550mm may be a little long and caused the lid to flex up a little when closed. The original was 250nm but I found 300NM available and close enough. You certainly don't want any of the more common 5/600nm that would be for a hatch tailgate.
This is the seller I bought my last pair from I gave my spare to a guy at the local club.

I've recently took delivery of one of these :-

410N
Fits great and opens the boot lid almost vertical.
A bit more expensive than in the link above (£35.77 delivered), but I wasn't aware of that seller when I searched for a replacement.
. But the specs may help you.
In fact, you only need to open the lid about an inch or two and it then makes it's own way up without further assistance.

I didn't need to change the strut on mine, but did change the bracket to one that opens the boot slightly further, making it easier to fill up.
Not sure if it's relevant to you, but it was cheap at £6.99 plus P&P
