As in the title

I am struggling to get access to the heater motor to change it.
Tried from the top where the flap for cold and hot is situated.
Tried from the battery compartment.
Tried from the passenger footwell.
No success whatsoever...

I hope anyone here has been there and can point me in the right direction.

Jimmy,
Jack the car up at front passenger side (UK).
Put on axle stand. Remove wheel.
Remove battery splash cover
Undo battery clamp, then disconnect battery (+VE side first) and lift battery out.
Access to blower compartment is via a grp cover that is either screwed to inner wing moulding, siliconed in, or both.
Heater blower is in the void between outer wing and the inner moulding. You will be able to see the end of the unit by getting your head into the wheel arch and using a torch.
The electrical connection is in the void, but if I remember correctly, the mountings are accessed via the space UNDER the heater flap.

Hope that helps?
Nick

This^. Been poking around this area this week, removed the hot/cold air inlet plenums with matrix inside then the aluminium plate with flap to find the fan is hidden in the wing. Could not work out how to access the fan or work out where it draws the air from before blowing into the cabin. Had a thorough look in the battery area and only after cleaning the inner wing did I notice the removeable panel bonded in place. There are no obvious openings underneath or in the battery area for air inlet so assume it draws air from inside the cabin through the inner sills? Was wonder if there was such a thing as a cabin filter on a Tuscan...

Modrich - the air is drawn in from the front.
If you look behind the pepperpot grill passenger side, you'll see the opening into the void between the inner and outer wings.

Another TVR feature where the route for the cabin air also happens to be able to include quite a bit of surface water if driving in rain!! The rain/moisture is sucked straight into the blower with all that entails for 'sticky' bearings, poor electrics etc, etc! I guess the thoughts of the factory were that the speed of the incoming air would drop as it entered the bigger volume of the wing void, allowing the moisture to drop out before the air mass reached the blower?

In 13/14 years of Tuscan ownership, I've had to take the access panel off nearly every year to use a restorative spray on the blower....and rod out the 2 flexi pipes that drain the flap stepper motor area and a/c evaporator area.

Nick

Gotcha thanks, something else for me to strip and clean before getting it on the road, and find a better intake location...
