LR Disco Sport 2017 - Same Probs as Evoque?

Apologies the various threads on here by me recently.

Having been well and truly put off the idea of an Evoque, we're now considering a Ford Edge or Disco Sport. I ran a Ford Edge for 2 years in the US, so they're fairly known to us. But the Disco is an unknown entity.

In short, like the last Evoque thread, anything to worry about, are they as bad as the Evoque or better?

We'd be looking at a 2017 2.0l if it helps.

2.0 diesel has the same problems as evoque. Dpf is too far away from the engine, doesn’t get hot enough. Engine tries to force regen, ends up with oil dilution.
A few have had issues with balance shafts too i think.

I wouldn’t touch a 2l ingenium.

Why are modern cars so st?
Is it beyond car manufacturers to build a decent reliable engine?
Strained to the limits to meet emissions targets and cheap as possible to manufacturer to maybe get to the end of the 3 year warranty period.

Ford Edge in the UK is diesel only, so no ecoboost issues & the 2.0d is not the same engine as the Ingenium in the Discovery Sport.

I defer to your knowledge of the Ford, didn't realise they didn't sell a petrol version in the UK but pretty sure the LR Evoque and DS run the same Ingenium engine.

You're correct that the Evoque/Sport do use the same drivetrain.

Wife also saw an F-Pace Jag which she liked, but having researched they too have the same engine (obvious really, they're all the same company after all). So we're now committed to finding a decent Ford Edge, looking for one with a leather interior as it's a "nice place to be" in leather. Found a couple of Vignales which look nice and a Titanium with leather interior.

Thanks all, you may have saved us from making a huge mistake, one which we wouldn't be able to afford to correct.

It's a shame because they are really nice cars. My wife has always fancied an Evoque and a Discovery Sport would be the natural replacement for my Freelander 2 but it won't be happening. I'm veering towards a Skoda Superb 4x4 estate or a Volvo XC60.

Indeed, my wife currently has an SLK and wants to retain the "luxury" of a premium brand, unfortunately the premium brand SUV's/4x4's that aren't suffering from reliability issues are out of our budget. So, having and Edge before, we're going back to that, as we know they're pretty good and massively underrated...in fact I'm not sure why they didn't sell well in the UK, they're very good at what they do.

We went for a run-out Freelander 2 with the 2.2 diesel engine to avoid all the horrific problems with the 2.0 Ingenium in the Disco Sport. I actually really like it, especially as it’s top spec, so maybe that’s an option.

Of course, the other option is to find a petrol DS or F-Pace as they’re generally much better.

Thanks, I'll have another look but I think the petrol DS and F-Paces are out of budget (which has already crept up from £18k to £22k). Freelander would be great.....if they were newer.
