My Mrs picked up a very nice victorian bevel edged mirror from the tip

I always think it's amazing what some people throw away

True story embarassingly. Also saw a 1920s oak extending leaf ding table exactly he same as one I'd seen for £800 on Camden market the week before

when i was about 16, i helped dad load the trailer up with the contents of the shed, and take it all to the tip.

all sorts of stuff, like 4 bar heaters that had failed, knackered lawnmowers, broken bikes, and a couple of empty 25 gallon fuel drums(red diesel? moi?)

get to the tip, and pikey no1 pipes up

"you cant put that lot in there"
anham sr has a little discussion with the pikey and money changes hands, while i'm binning the 'acceptable' waste into the tip.

next thing i know, we get back into the car, and sail away.
Without the trailer. absolutly goppin thing it was too, but it was the first thing i'd ever made with my own hands.

Every so often we hire a skip and chuck old PCs and lab kit into it. Believe me it has to be old and crap to get thrown out of here, schools (and very possibly Africa) won't take our rejects. We then wait to see how long it is before staff start rummaging through and removing things*. Record is about 30 seconds. Oddest retrievals were an old teapot and about two feet of tatty tinsel.

*Well, it is very dull here and this helps to pass the time.

I took an old mattress down to our local tip the other day. The Pregnant wife also came to give me a hand.

On entering the tip I notice a skip full of mattresses so decide (common sence) that is where it belongs.
Just about to deposit it when female pikey skip rat pipes up
"You cannot put that in there!"
"Why Not" I reply
"It needs to go here" .. she then leand me to a skip marked "donot use" and removes the chain from the access platform
The Wife pipes up" Were really sorry, the crystal ball wansn't working today, and my ESP is a little off"
then she follows it with "HOW THE FCUK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT ?"
I walk past and deposit my mattress and burst out laughing.
Wife now enraged also shouts across the tip
"Give these FCUKERS a reflextice jacket and they think they are the Gestapo"

The pikeys at our local dump hover like flies around sh1t. They've recently started wandering around with antiques guides in their pockets and will pounce before you've even got stuff out of the car. I suppose some good stuff gets thrown out, (I picked up a Kona Cinderkone bike for £5.00 once) but I think I'd choke if I ever saw a Pikey on the Antiques Roadshow with a recently discovered painting by Canaletto!!

When I was binning stuff once the students parking in the car next to us saw we were binning a working CD player we didnt have time to sell and didnt have room for. The stigs went mental when we gave it to them. One of them had a go at me. I wasnt in the mood for a fight though and just went "yeah whatever" till he went away

There are no pikeys at our local refuse disposal centre, they are all fully employed and highly trained local authority employees.

took some of my old toys to the tip once with me dad. had a stretch armstrong which had been in the cellar and the plastic had split and all the powder inside was leaking out

as soon as i put it in the skip some pikey low life tip teenager had it out and was playing with it, while the white powder was falling out

i feel bad for all the money my parents spent on toys for me, and now they are pretty much useless, nothing i can do about it though. unless i pay them back the accumulated total of £200,000 that is supposedly what it has cost my parents to raise me to the age of 18

i recently moved out of a city centre townhouse (circa 16 century) with a front door that literally spills out onto the street. We just throw anything outsie the door and it vanishes. Knackered old 70's bookcase, half a shop dummy (broken), matresses, chairs. Record was under 30 seconds for something that took 2 men to lift.

The shop dummy was played with for a bit longer but eventually our own landlord (rich bugger) came along, sized it up and chucked it in the back of his car!
