I’ve an X5 and it’s due a big service on Friday. Anyway, I’ve had to do an impromptu long distance trip (500 miles and back). I’m midway through and had a warning saying oil service is due imminently and it’s a danger to the car and society to continue without it.

I’ve also done an oil check and it’s fine. Do I need to get BMW’s finest airlifted to my current location or can it all wait until I’m back at base camp.

BMW has a condition based service process - its good news that its not leaking (had way to many BMW's to know that this is not the norm) but it has 'detected' that the condition is at a point that it needs an oil change.

Usually I havent had an issue with this in the past and the manufacturers give you a month or 1000 miles contingency anyway. I was under the mileage but over the time for my Macan so I called the dealer to check - absolutely fine and no issues. Just make sure you get it done in the next month. Due to availability of slots for this, I was at the limit, but they did confirm that I was still in the warranty period. No issues.

It happens and its fair. Just get it booked and make sure you let the service rep know so they can prioritize you accordingly.

Thanks both.

Last oil service was at 15k - 2 years ago . It’’s now hit 30k and is 341 miles overdue. Last service itself was a few months ago’- 26k miles for brake oil.

Yes it’s orange. Been told it can wait until it was due to be serviced on Friday.

It is orange now because it is due. It is only when it is overdue that it will change to red.

In my experience you will be fine and once it has been serviced it will show up green in the service history.
