Following the kind help on here re insurance, I have a few questions on my new 991.2 GT3 that I would appreciate any input from experienced owners:

Harness for 918 buckets - is it easy to put it in and take it out? I'd like to use it on track days but don't really want it for day to day use (I'll use the car most days). It's not currently fitted;

Cup 2 tyres - what are the practical condition limits for using these on the road - is it more temperature than wet/dry? My reading suggests wet is okay if warm ie summer but cold and wet not so good. I'm thinking putting Pilot Sport 4S for winter, as I will continue to use it most days. When I say condition limits, I'm thinking more sensible safe use as opposed to getting home without crashing!

Noise - any idea on the what I might expect on a static noise test or indeed a drive by? I plan to do Donnington and Snetterton in the next couple of months which both seem quite tolerant and I've certainly seen noisy cars at those tracks but even the Carrera S hit quite high levels on noise testing.

As an aside, car is amazing, absolutely love it smile

Thanks in advance

Harnesses: are a big job to fit (seat out etc). Once fitted, they're fitted. You just leave them out of the way for road driving.

Cup2s: standing water or temps in single digits is where I find they start to get a bit sketchy. Wet weather in double digit temps is fine if you take it easy. I have a GT4 with a second set of wheels and use PS4Ss when the track season is over and swap back to Cup2s at the start of the season.

The shoulder belts I shorten and leave the buckles slightly shorter than the tightening end of the straps, and post them back through the seat so that they dangle behind it ... then the buckles don't rattle on the seat runners.

The waist straps I fold as short as possible and fold them into the seat edges.

The crotch strap I leave in the open position to minimise any seat marking and it sits between my legs ... I never notice it when wearing the inertia-reel safety belt.

As for tyres ... 'wot Twin said, although I sometimes change wheels in the summer.

I think if I had to choose one or the other I would run PS4S all year round ... they are capable of pulling 1.2G + on track and they are a lot of fun, though can be destroyed if not checking temperatures / pressures and being mindful of them ...

All good advice…I’d probably also add re tyres let them warm up a but before getting too carried away with the right foot when temps are lower.

For road use I found the ps2 a game changer and really if you want to use the car a lot.

Gt3's are quite loud, so if going to track, you could consider some silenced tips for quieter days.

Static isn't a problem, as soft limited at 4k revs

Thanks for the input. I think I will leave the harness out for now, at least until I’ve used on track without (if it isn’t too loud!). I drove to work on Friday in the rain and the tyres seemed fine for normal driving which was reassuring but suspect I will switch to PS4S come winter.

I found PS4s with damping in the stiffer mode is a nice balance. A lot more confidence on b roads with the added compliance regardless of temps.

Less grip than cup2s on track but I’m not really at the skill level where a lost second keeps me up at night.
