Certificate of Conformity: Daihatsu

Here’s a challenge! Can anyone guide me?

Long story short.

I’m trying to import my Mum’s little Daihatsu Trevis (2007) from France to England.

I’ve paid the tax man.

Got an MoT but now I need a “Certificate of Conformity” and the challenge is Daihatsu pulled out of Europe.

I’ve tried Toyota - as they are the parent company now. To no avail. Pretty unhelpful if I’m honest.

So I’ve gone back to the original seller in France and also tracked down a U.K. based stealer for Daihatsu parts and servicing.

Does anyone know a more direct route? Thanks in hope. 👍

Try asking the Kei Cars In The Park club/group, they have a group on Facebook, and I think they still have a website/forum.

Lots of Daihatsu fans there, and people with (usually Japanese) imports, and given I think your car is basically an L700/L650 Mira chassis, someone may already have done a chunk of the legwork.

Alternatively, the French authorities love paperwork, is there any kind of officialdom on their side which will have type approval records or similar?

Why do you need the CoC?

Just apply for the registration as it's exempt from type approval as it's over ten years of age, just use the French logbook

The issue is it's a French market car, not JDM, and any car first registered in the EU from 2001 needs this data (presumably coinciding with CO2 based road tax)

The 'Request Details' drop-down on this page https://www.daihatsu.co.uk/support/ includes Certificate of Conformity request as one of the options, which comes up with more info when you select it. I have no idea if that page is still live, though.

You register it as PLG and input 'over 10 years of age' in section 65 on the V55/5. It's exempt from type approval.

Yep, exactly:

"When you’re exempt from vehicle approval - If your vehicle was first registered or manufactured more than 10 years ago, you might not need approval. Check to see if the vehicle is exempt."

Then click and it falls under: "You do not need vehicle approval for: cars and minibuses with 8 passenger seats or less (not including the driver) over 10 years old"
