A Denon Subwoofer question...
Discussion
Don't know where to put this question, as its not really computer related, so feel free to move it wherever..
Anyway..
I finally got my denon hi-fi that I sent over from the UK. It is all hunky dory, except for the subwoofer. When I unpacked it, there was something banging about inside. Now, I opened it up, and its the magnet from the back of the speaker. What can I do to repair it? It doesn't lok wired up or anything, (I'm no wire wizard), and to me it just loks like it sits in certain groves around the coiled wire bit. Is it fine to just 'glue' it back on, as that is how it appears it was attached in the first place??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No probs, Just make sure it is stuck on as best you can, it is the Sub after all.
That system is good aint it, my mates got the same one.
"The speaker magnet is there to provide a permanent magnetic
field for the the speaker coil, which is embedded in the paper of the
speaker cone. When the audio signal flows throw the speaker coil it
generates a small magnetic field the strength of which varies with the
strength of the audio signal. This small magnetic field is repelled
by or attracted to the permanent magnetic field produced by the
speaker magnet. Thus the paper cone moves away from or closer towards
the back of the speaker. Hence as the strength of the audio signal
wiggles the paper cone wiggles back and forth, and you get sound waves
that match the audio signal."

Ok.. superglue, or silicone sealent it is!
Yeah, Its a great system. It was only 1500 quid when I got it, but the sound is perfect for my needs. Not everbearing bass, and the little flat panel speakers are crystal clear! The unit loks ok as well, for my tatse. No fancy ass flashing lights...
Thanks for the help, trev Much appreciated

I dunno know about anyone elso but if I paid 1500 quid for a Hi-Fi system and it came slightly broken I would be gluing stuff back. I'd send it back!, the sub is gonna be producing some mean vibrations and if the magnet isnt glued on very well then it might vibrate and annoy you.

Its an old system, and Denon do not make it anymore for at least 2 years.
Sounds like it has broken in transit from UK to USA.
Spot on! Didn't want to give it up, so shipped it with me! old system..I prefer to refer to it as a classic of modern design, and technology!
I call my Denon AVR1800 old, sorry Sir no offence meant

The AVR1800 is a proper bit of kit! Big, black, and powerful! Nice... I just like my wee mini-system ![]()
I like the Smaller systems, will be getting the newer version of yours the D700 or soemthing, when we finally move and be selling off my old kit.
I thought the D700 was TEAC?
