Thule 598 maximum wheelbase

My mtb (XL frame FS 29er) has a wheelbase of around 1230 and is pretty close to the limit of the 598 on my car. I could believe 1250 as the max.

What bike are you thinking of carrying - something >1250 sounds like a big ‘un!

Have just measured mine - 1245, and just fits on the rack so that makes sense with Thule’s advice.

I have a geometron g1 in xl and Pole hardtail... Some of THE longest wheelbases of any XL bikes.

They will fit but I have to use a strap from from the front wheel to the behind the roof bar to stop the wheel trying to flop. The strap attaches at 8 o clock on the wheel and loops under the Thule bar.

I have a large Bird AM9 with a 170mm fork and the wheelbase is 1270-ish I think. It fits on my 598 ok with the front wheel holder slid a little off the edge of the base.
