Evening all, I'm thinking of buying E46 m3 as I sold one a year ago, however I can get an f80 M3 now for the same money?
E46 M3 will hold better money and be an old car i Know, But I love the look of the F80 M3, but how enjoyable are they long term as I heard they can be trouble and not as exciting as E46 as a drivers car?

Think you need to drive both and make a decision. Also depends on what you’re going to be using them for. As a daily drive the F80 will be a lot easier and the torque heavy delivery will make it easier to build an occasional burst of acceleration into the daily drive.

Personally, I’ve struggled to get excited by the newer turbo m cars. Not because they’re bad cars, but because I’ve found them too similar to the m-lite and more powerful non-m models, whereas they used to be very different to the ‘normal’ models.

I found the f80 dull to drive, very fast but dull. I got the e90.

Collected the M3 yesterday, good drive from Wigan to Ullapool.
Good sound of the s54 rasping though the Scottish Highlands.

Congratulations. thumbup

I did the NC500 in my Z4M Coupe a couple of weeks ago, and also loved hearing an S54 rasping through the Highlands!

I've just got back from a holiday near there (see my E90 M3 thread for latest photos) - some cracking roads to enjoy an M3 up there!

The S54 sounds amazing though the valleys and tree lined areas!
Hope you enjoyed the Z4M Coupe on the Nc500?

Very much so. Lots of driving around the Cairngorms and went west to Applecross and Torridon too. I've done the Cairngorms many times before and I keep going back. This time was the first in an M3 and I had such good fun!
