'Thunder' is in for his Service and from tracing back an oil leak onto the exhaust, led back to a hole being found on top of the diff casing.

Apparently there is a water trap there, that over time eats away at the casing and develops into a hole. Has anyone else experienced this and how/where did they resolve it?

Thanks, Andrew

..... addendum. The diff is now off the car and this is the horror show of the top of the diff, whereas the bottom looks brand new. I'd encourage all owners to get their hands round the top of their diff to see if there is any pooled water trapped there :-(

What year is your Tuscan? This is what my '98 Cerb's diff looked like after 'cleaning'...

No it's a patch of 'plastic metal' (or some similar compound), that my specialist put on to get it through its MOT, before he removed the diff to send it off to Grantura. Car is a 2004 Tuscan S.

Have you seen Rob’s video about his diff? Needed a bit of cleaning on his 100k mile Tuscan, but nothing like yours

You have to question the people who have serviced this car over the years as that’s simply diabolical.
Ive seen better looking Diffs lying in a field.
Even the breather cap looks rusted/ gunked up.

The car must have stood for years as heat and breeze would dry most of that out.
My Chim Dif with 70,000 on the clock looked new compared to that mess!
