I want to move my steering wheel away from me. Ie nearer the dash. Don't mind buying a new wheel. Anyone got any ideas?

No idea if one exists but you don't need a new steering wheel, you need a slimmer boss. Could possibly cut one down and then drill and tap new holes?

Just looking at mine, there's a good inch that you could cut off of the boss but you probably couldn't use the original horn button as it will hit the top of the steering column. The next problem is that if you move the wheel closer to the dash you're going to be smacking the stalks with your fingers all of the time.

Sounds like more hassle than it's worth to me, do you have Mr tickle arms? hehe

Got me trying to visualise the practicality of it too. Wouldn't seat adjustment solve the issue you are having OP?

Pedals out as far as possible so seat as far back as I can go but arms very bent.

Are you sitting too upright? I'm 6'3 and I don't have the base of the seat all of the way back because it stops the back from reclining enough for the top half of me to fit.

That's the thought I'd had.

Mind, I now can't get this image out of my head

I had a Lancia HPE back in the 80s. Fabulous car, but I could never get comfortable in it, same reason as OP, seat/pedal/wheel relationship was just wrong. Came to the obvious conclusion that Italians have different proportions to us, as demonstrated by their often bloody knuckles. Expressing this opinion would doubtless make me a racist nowadays, but the concept didn't exist back then.

Rather than adjusting the wheel, have you considered adjustable pedals. I have these and they make a huge difference.

I had one of those too - a great car as you say. thumbup
It replaced an Alfasud 1.5ti which was another great little car but started going rusty after 3 years.
I found it quite comfortable (in an Italian sort of way) but then maybe I'm an odd shape & I was a lot younger then.

I had exactly the same problem when I first test drove my Chim.

You've probably checked, but I discovered my car had a boss spacer fitted for the previous short-armed owner smile

Removed it and it solved the problem

OP said that they're fully wound out.

I have a set with much longer threads including accelerator. In stainless. From Peter Essling.

I've been driving for 47 years & driven nearly a million miles. Having contributed to this thread I got in my Ranger & noticed my arms weren't straight!

I'd never have noticed otherwise. hehe

Can it really be that much of a problem?

Same with a motorbike. Straight arms limited control, bent arms push & pull counter steer.
Tried a bike with ape hangers once, never again. Easy rider only rode on straight roads.

I was always taught the ideal wheel/driver position is when, in your normal driving position, you can place both wrists palm down on top of the wheel such that the wheel rim is in the fold of your wrists.

How much of an adjustment is needed?
