Presumably she's just started or just about to start walking? Maybe one of those activity centre thingies on wheels to help her along? Can't remember what you call 'em

Get her into cars young.

In the early learning centre you can get a car that flashes and makes noises. Also you can get a steering wheel that has all the gear on it, including a pedal that makes revving noises. Not only that, but the steering wheel has a sucker on the bottom which sticks to the table of a high chair.

You can get the two for £30, and they are suitable for 1yr+. I'm sure the parents will appreciate the efforts to butch her up with car stuff.

Edited to add - you must remember that it is her toy and not yours though. The revving thing is especially cool!

Good idea

Seriously at that age they will have just as much fun playing with the packaging the toy comes in as the toy itself. Don't bother buying anything too expensive.

car suggestion , i like , although depends on how vindictive i'm feeling, sure her parents would appreciate her having something thats makes that much noise can can be repeatedly crashed into things... then again would make me laugh...

definitley check with the parents if there is anything she needs AND IF THERE IS ANYTHING THEY DONT WANT HER TO HAVE! some (actually, all)parents have ideas about what kids shouldnt have yet, and that is a good thing to know!

Sharp/breakable/small things aside, I think its best to buy "ahead" of the correct age; stuff that's officially age-appropriate for BabyV6 she just seems to get bored with very quickly as its too easy...

I got my god daughter the top 10 CD singles that were in the charts on her 1st birthday - complete with a little wooden CD rack.

I aim to do this every year, though as she grows I supect she'll want other stuff too!

Indeed - what else are you supposed to do until the little lad's legs are long enough to reach the kart pedals, eh?
