London bombing victim....
Discussion
Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but BBC Breakfast news ran a short piece on a black guy who lost a leg in the London bombings on the 7th July. He is a pinnacle of strength and resolve and someone we could all probably learn from.....
Anyway, this morning they had a follow on piece. The first time he actually got to leave the hospital since having lost his leg was to attend his mothers funeral! My god, thats a tough hand he has been dealt. But he was still a pillar of strength!
An truly amazing chap and clearly an example of why these terrorists wont win. Follow on piece tomorrow too....

Strange that we havent heard anything about these courageous individuals in the media, but then again why bother commenting on 51 dead people & scores of maimed survivers when we have the family of a dead Brazillian demanding £1 million in compensation & wholesale changes to our Criminal Justice System & the entire methods & principles of Policing in the UK..........
Cynical ?

Milf how can you possibly make a comment such as that when yesterday you argued with me from the other persepctive.
You are not consistant.
Anyway I was watching the guy this morning and have seen him before. His mental strength and courage is awesome. Im sure there are dozens of stories to be told about some of the other victims involved and I cannot begin to imagine how each of them is dealing with both the physical and mental issues caused by the bombings.
Rich.
I have no desire to endure your ramblings on every subject I may or may not have an opinion on you Cyber Warrior. To enter into a constructive disagreement, as I have done in the past with other contributors is one thing, to be subject to your childish insults (& I am not the only one on here) is quite another.
Regrettably your inarticulate insults caused a very thought provoking Topic to be closed yesterday, that being on the subject of the death (& possible murder of an 11 year old boy). With this in mind, I will not lower myself to your taunts (& earlier threats) on such a subject as the London Bombings.
For the avoidance of future doubt though, it was not so much your comments that raised my shackles yesterday, but the fact that you decided to raise them on a Topic which was discussing the possible murder of a child. Hi jacking of such sensitive threads, which may be read by newcomers &/or relatives/friends of the deceased is insesitive at best & downright ignorant at worst.
Finally, if you wish to proceed with your personally motivated arguments against me, then do this by direct E mail to me. It is unfair for other contributors to have to witness & read such communications on wholly unrelated topics, just so you can feel that you can score points against me.

MILF
I'm sorry but y'day thread started as a media topic.
I had only just started reading when it was closed. (slow reader
) As I knew a few more details concerning the murder that Rich spoke about and was also surprised about the lack of media cover, i was going to post on original thread rather than start a new one on the subject.
Would you have also accused me of this

some on here manage to manipulate it to have a pop at ethnic minorities &/or immigrants.
Come on people, have we really sunk to this ?
If i had posted on the original?

Please can we stop all this pointless bickering as it just means that threads which begin with worthwhile debates get closed because they descend into primary school playground slanging matches.
ok
Silversun, you are a racist.
want to let that stand and not respond?
Thought not. I didnt mean it but Im sure you get my point.

Rich, I understand your point, I really do. It's just that we start off having an interesting debate and then once the name calling starts it's a matter of time before the thread gets locked/deleted and then everyone loses. No offence intended, I'm not blaming you specifically here.
I think maybe people need to take a step back and think before they hit the Submit button and not rise to the bait. It's a sad fact but it's all too often that the people who survive such events with horrific injuries, both mental and physical aren't acknowledged enough. The press generaly just report on the dead.
These people are quite often reduced to a living hell for years, even for the rest of their lives. Not forgetting how this can also effect their families. I believe they suffer more than the dead and my hat goes off to them!

Personally, I have the greatest respect for someone that can come back from such a terrible injury. I doubt I would have the courage myself.
Im sure there is a process the mind goes through when major injuries and changes occur.
Shock/depression etc.
Which I would imagine in a healthy minded person are then followed by a "get on with it" acceptance attitude.
The guy lost his mum while in Hospital which must have been an awful blow, but he still seemed positive, which means at least half the battle is won in his case.

I think this applies to the guys that come back from active service too and although some havent suffered physical injury i often wonder if the back-up service is up to scratch for these people.
