TVR modification forum poll

I was just thinking,rather than boring the mass'es,how about a major mods forum.
There's enough of us that are doing either Chev transplants or major AJP mods let alone Sp6, RV8 ones.
This could include all major engine,drivetrain,suspension,bodywork mods etc.
I'm sure there's alot of TVR PH'ers out there,that are building serious machines,would like to share info,but may not necsessarly have TVR road cars.
This forum should also appeal to road car TVR owners wanting to do mods,yet not interfear with the current forum's.
Am I out on a limb with my thoughts here?

I'd go for that. I've asked questions in the Tuscan Challenge forum about the car, but I feel a bit guilty as its really for the race series and not a technical forum about the cars. Also lurked around the Ultima forum and got some good info there too on Chevys etc, but a TVR modified forum would be good.
There's lots of stuff I still need to know....but I'm sufficiently far down the line (and have made and learned from the mistakes) that I can maybe give some pointers to anyone else attempting the same, as no doubt can others.

Possibly, but a) it's just for Griffs (if I understand correcly), and b) the 'modifications' we are thinking about here are (I hope) a bit more than changing the rear lights or putting on different wheels.
A few years back, it seemed having nitrons and different pads was as far as folks were going (I was there! Got the Tee shirt!). Now though, there is some serious work going on with engine transplants and re-engineering engines, chassis and bodies.
I'd love a forum for this sort of stuff, so long as it was for 'proper' modifications and didn't degenerate into 'what wheels will fit my Cerbera', as this level of info is well covered (and better covered) in the model-specific forums.
But things like 'will a Holley 750 fit under a Tuscan bonnet with a riser plate', or 'does the gearchange on a Tremek TKO600 line up without hitting a cross tube'....now these are proper questions! [and the answers are a)yes, so long as the manifold doesn't have a riser too. b), yes, use the second from back lever position

Would love to add more of the Grifith Type engine mods etc But the site is there for the owners/ex owners, they have to send me the info and I will happily put up anything Griffith Related.
I agree though a Forum could be agood idea, Theres some amazing stuff going on now Engine/Suspension/Brake/body etc etc

Not really sure why you'd want to dilute the forums even more. 
Surely if you're 'modding' a Chim' you'll lurk around the Chim' forum, likewise for a modified Cer', Tuscan etc. For a general question there's the General TVR forum.
Seems a pointless exercise to me, but maybe that's just me!

Surely it would be better just to have a section for modifications generally, rather than attempt to decide what constitutes a modification and what doesn't. Not everyone has the expertise to do it themselves, or the budget to pay someone else for the sort of work Jellison has done to his car (impressive though it is). But I would think many people start off small and gradually build on what they have done. Modification after all should be anything over and above the std spec????
At least if we have all mods included then it will better encourage people to 'have a go' & take on various projects on their cars?

If you're putting on a set of leven stalks on a Chimaera, then it's fine in the Chimaera forum - and the best place for it. But, some folks are doing rather more 'challenging' stuff. For my part I've been hanging around in the Ultima forum to get info, as not surprisingly there's precious little information on small block Chevrolets, for example, in the TVR forums. So, if we continue down the example Chevy-power route - the issues I've had with a Chevy in a Tuscan are no doubt similar to jelison in a Chimaera or shpub in a Cerbera. And doubtless, the issues would be the same for someone trying to drop a small block in a Griff. Ggot to be better to pool these problems and solutions rather than have the same issues repeated in different forums?
Everyone might have a different idea of what such a forum might support, but for my part it's usefulness is for general points beyond the typical model specifics of brakes-lights-suspension-stalks etc. Lets say someone wants to get a recomendation for a shortened propshaft for a Griff with a different transmission. I'm not going to trawl the Griff forums, but given I got a very nice heavy duty prop made up for the Tuscan, the recommendation would still be valid.
So, I'm all for it - but with the 'rules' no postings on brake pads, shox, stalks, carpets, paint, lights, ICE etc., which are best served in the model forums - but with a focus on non-standard TVR engines, boxes, clutches, diffs, carbs, superchargers, turbochargers, NOS, suspension setup changes, body mods to accommodate the aforementioned etc.

theres hundreds of forums that would be useful, BIG american ones too like LS1TECH and HOTRODDERS for example...
I'm a member on a few and use them extensively outside of pistonheads...
I'm working on a techie global tuning/performance forum myself, not ready yet, but its nearly there, and got tonnes of interest from hardcore tuners all over... but its more geared to SERIOUS tuners/upgraders and not the average joe-bloggs halfords market.... if you're interested, drop me a mail, I'm working on features for it right now...
