Cross over parts

Does anyone know if my 1993 430 Chimaera can use a same year Land Rover V8 starter? My starter is acting up, won't crank sometimes when hot. Land Rover parts are readily available here in the US.

Yes they should be the same but if it is acting up when the engine is hot that is probably not the issue. Have a Google of chimaera hot start problems, I believe that most of the time it is down to the power cable degrading from the battery where it goes over the top of the gearbox but I haven't investigated further as it has not happened to mine. Check the integrity of the connection at the starter solenoid first, it can become loose over time.
If that’s ok the best way to test it is to rig up a wire to the starter solenoid terminal you can touch to battery positive just for test purposes obviously when it happens.
Saves you buying a starter when chances are it’s not at fault.
The big battery feed to starter from battery is not great admittedly but I don’t think that would be your problem.
